Project “Zinošs, tātad varošs” (“Knowing Means Doing”)
Since 1 March 2017, the Association “Latvian Red Cross” implements the project “Knowing Means Doing” (No. DIKS-17-571-lī). The project is financed by the Education, Culture and Sports Department of Rīga City Council.
Project implementation period: 1 March 2017 – 13 November 2017
Objective: To facilitate active participation of the customers of ĪUM “Burtnieks” in development of their careers and growth, to increase their competitiveness in local labour market and provide them opportunities to get to know how to spend their time with family (children) thereby facilitating their integration in local community.
Project implementation place: LatLRC ĪUM “Burtnieks”, 37 Burtnieku Street, Riga
The target audience of the project is 50 LatLRC ĪUM “Burtnieks” customers, children and adults, age 3 to 70, persons and families facing crisis without a permanent place of residence, people who often lack motivation to arrange and improve their own lives, with low skill set and lack of everyday skills.
Key activities and results of the project:
During the project the following activities will be organised:
Basic professional skills in learning modules: 1) Beauty module (hair-dresser, manicurist); 2) Health and social care module (assistant to nurse, care taker); 3) Catering services and trade module; 4) Book-keeping and accounting module.
Professional school presentations in the premises of ĪUM;
Activities to children of ĪUM;
Joint events with all customers.
As a result of project activities, the participants will be urged to be aware that they can change their lives by improving their living conditions. The project will allow the involved to get to know their strengths and weaknesses, their opportunities and threats. The awareness of their own abilities will allow the participants to be more successful in the labour market and arrange their lives, thereby facilitating their social integration in Riga.
Total budget of the project: EUR 7,055.50
The project is co-financed within the framework of the Social Integration Programme of the Education, Culture and Sports Department of the Rīga City Council.
