Center for Children with Functional Disabilities “Rīta Vēsma”
In September 25, 2020, the Latvian Red Cross Center for Children with Functional Disabilities “Rīta Vēsma” started its work in Daugavpils. The center is located in the premises of the former 1st special school (18 Novembra Street 197V).
The aim of the center is to help children and young people integrate into society and form a dialogue with the world around them.
This is the first center of its kind in Latvia, where various specialists (pedagogues, psychologists, social rehabilitators, art, dance and music therapists and canine therapists, etc.) will provide social rehabilitation services for children and young people in special training and medical rehabilitation programs. Currently, the center employs 12 specialists, however, it is planned to expand the range of specialist teams and services provided.
The target group of the center is children and young people:
- with behavioral disorders;
- developmental disorders
- under the supervision of the probation service.
In parallel with the existing classes, it is planned to attract LSK volunteers who will lead the classes for the clients of the center on various topical topics.
