Vidzeme region

Following the Latvian Red Cross strategy and following the example of Latgale, Kurzeme and Riga branches, Vidzeme region branches are also continuing the process of merging to form a stronger regional structural unit capable of expanding the range of services and assistance, including their accessibility closer to residents.

On August 25, 2021, the Councils of Valka and Vidzeme branches decided to complete the merger process started last year. Kārlis Albergs has been elected the Chairman of the Council of the enlarged Vidzeme branch, Galina Sokolova will act as the Executive Director of the Vidzeme branch.

The forthcoming plans of the Vidzeme branch include a meeting with the management of the newly elected municipalities to discuss future cooperation opportunities, evaluate existing activities in the territories, definitely retaining LatRC volunteers and employees, expanding their scope as much as possible, and agree on a common strategy to promote LatRC in Vidzeme.
