Volunteering Service is one of the basic principles of the Latvian Red Cross. It is a way, how everyone by donating their time and skills can help other people in need. The Latvian Red Cross, which is a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, operates in accordance with this principle.

LatRC volunteer activities
LatRC currently has around 1600 active volunteers active in a variety of fields, such as:
- providing First Aid in public events;
- getting involved in organizing, running and promoting various charity projects,
- participating in blood donation days, attracting new donors, and promoting the donors’ movement
- involvement in humanitarian assistance, such as work in the collection and dispensation of humanitarian aid;
- Peer volunteer educators at the LatRC Youth Organization deliver lectures in Latvian schools on topics such as HIV / AIDS, violence, international humanitarian law, human rights and discrimination, first aid, etc .;
- with medical education, LatRC volunteers advisory services in health rooms, engaging in first aid training and competitions as accident response agents, homemakers and assistants, etc.What does a volunteer gain?
