On August 21st, the Latvian Red Cross visited the Daugmale Multifunctional Center in Ķekava Municipality, where the local government organized an event for children with functional disabilities. As part of this event, the Latvian Red Cross conducted a mental health-promoting activity—canine therapy, or dog therapy sessions. This initiative was offered to children in Ķekava as part of the international EU4Health project.
The event was attended by more than 60 children and their family members, including Ukrainian civilians. In addition to the LatRC, other partners participated with their own activities, offering children a bubble show, magic tricks, animator attractions, face painting, and various games.
Special thanks go to the Ķekava Municipality and the Daugmale Multifunctional Center for organizing this event. We are also grateful to Tamāra Kabakova and her dog Rūna for their heartfelt canine therapy sessions.
A big thank you to Nestlé Baltics for their support, which helped provide a variety of treats for the children.
Together, we can make a difference!
