In April 2023, Latvian Red Cross started to implement the project financially supported by the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) in the emergency program of Ukraine and its affected countries.

Within the framework of the LRC program, the following activities will be implemented in the period from April 1, 2023 to February 29, 2024:

  • to develop a system for issuing gift cards to LRC and will issue 1,500 gift cards worth EUR 50.00 each to Ukrainian families with school-age children studying in an educational institution in Latvia;
  • purchase a specialized means of transport for the transportation of persons with special needs and mobility impairments in Latvia and beyond its borders;
  • purchase additional first aid/training equipment and provide free first aid training to representatives of state institutions and non-governmental organizations working with Ukrainian civilians in Latvia;
  • purchased equipment for action in emergency situations and to increase LRC ability to act in emergency situations;
  • purchase additional medical supplies and equipment to increase the LRC ability to act in emergency situations;
  • organize health days in regions of Latvia, incl. to collective accommodation of Ukrainian civilians;
  • to implement the psychological support program in prisons. The purpose of the program is to promote the personal growth and socialization of convicts by learning the requirements, attitudes, value orientations accepted in society;
  • create new child-friendly places in the premises of LRC regional committees;
  • will continue to provide informational support to Ukrainian civilians in Latvia;
